Explained: The collection of the Louwman Museum

Louwman Museum – Collection

It all started with a 20 year old Dodge, which was purchased in 1934. Now, there are 100 car brands to be found in the Louwman Museum. The collection consists of more than 250 cars. It is the oldest private collection of automobiles in the world.

Did you know that the Golden Coach was built by Spyker? And that Spyker made the first six-cylinder? The luxury brand Spyker comes from the Netherlands and has played a major role in the development of the cars we are currently driving.

The museum is located in The Hague, the city where P.W. Louwman sold Dodge and Chrysler cars. To house the collection, a special building was built, designed by the American architect Michael Graves.
